Beach trolls!

Mix play and math for a really fun day at the beach

Many of us think that a warm day on the beach is one of the best things there is. But not everyone has the patience to spend hours motionless on a towel, especially not our very youngest children. Here’s a really great tip for learning play that keeps curiosity alive – create beach trolls together!

Imagine a nice day at the beach. It’s starting to get a little boring and the kids need to find something new. It’s time to explore and build stone trolls. This is not one bit difficult, just find stones that you can stack on top of each other. Make sure it doesn’t collapse!

Of course, you can make beach trolls in other places, but then they might be forest trolls or garden trolls.

You’ll need

Nature! Be outside and have access to stones of different sizes.

What are the rules?

Use stones of different sizes, stack/lay on each other so that it looks like a troll.

Vary the game and challenge each other
